Ostatnia kolejka zasadniczego sezonu Ekstraklasy przyciągnęła na stadiony i przed telewizory setki tysięcy kibiców. Gra toczyła się bowiem o wielką stawkę, zwłaszcza w Trójmieście. Arka z matematycznymi szansami na grupę mistrzowską, Lechia walcząca o ligowy byt. Dodatkowo był to mecz derbowy, co potęguje jego wagę w oczach fanów obydwu drużyn. Na to starcie byli gotowi wszyscy. Może oprócz piłkarzy gdyńskiej Arki, którzy zapomnieli wyjść na pierwszą połowę…
Ta część spotkania musiała być bolesna dla każdego sympatyka żółto-niebieskich. Wszystko zaczęło się od kontry Lechii z 14 minuty. Sławomir Peszko wrzucił piłkę na głowę niekrytego Lukasa Haraslina, jego główkę wybronił Pavels Steinbors, ale z tyłu nabiegł Flavio Paixao i dobił piłkę do pustej bramki. Następnego gola dla gospodarzy zdobył płaskim strzałem z narożnika pola karnego Peszko, a 3 minuty później piłkę w głupi sposób stracił Grzegorz Piesio, a ratujący sytuację Andriy Bogdanov sfaulował w polu karnym Haraslina. Flavio zamienił jedenastkę na bramkę i dołożył jeszcze jedno trafienie przed końcem pierwszej części spotkania. Portugalczyk skompletował hat tricka i wszystko stało się jasne.
W przerwie Leszek Ojrzyński postawił na atak wprowadzając Enrique Esquedę i Marcusa da Silvę. Nadzieję w serca arkowców wlał swoim kunsztem Luka Zarandia. Gruzin najpierw ominął Mato Milosa, po czym wyprzedził Peszkę i zdecydował się na uderzenie z niebywale ostrego kąta. Żółto-niebiescy dochodzili do kolejnych sytuacji, lecz zabrakło szczęścia. Kolejną bramkę na otarcie łez zdobył Enrique Esqueda w 9 minucie doliczonego czasu. Dwa debiutanckie trafienia w LOTTO Ekstraklasie to jeden z nielicznych pozytywów żółto-niebieskich w tym starciu.
To był klasyczny mecz dwóch połówek – pierwszą zdominowała Lechia, drugą zaś Arka. Co ciekawe, goście oddali więcej strzałów w trakcie całego spotkania. Zabrakło im jednak celności (pomijając defensorów, którzy wybudzili się z drzemki równo z gwizdkiem sędziego po pierwszych 45 minutach meczu). Statystycznie gdynianie nie wypadli tak tragicznie. Można nawet zaryzykować tezę, że gdyby arbiter zdecydował się na doliczenie kolejnych 20 minut, to spotkanie zakończyłyby się remisem. Los podarował arkowcom w spółce z tabelą ligową co najmniej 90 minut na odpłacenie się rywalom za niecały tydzień. Być może piątek trzynastego okaże się tym razem pechowy dla Lechii?
