Nie przegrać na inaugurację – taki cel przyświecał obydwu trenerom. Polubownie więc skończyło się remisem. Szkoleniowcy są zadowoleni z punktu, kibice mniej, bo emocji było jak na lekarstwo.
Trudno było spodziewać się wielkiego widowiska w meczu rozgrywanym przy takiej temperaturze w samo południe. Jedynie ostatni kwadrans pierwszej połowy przyniósł trochę emocji, w drugiej połowie obie drużyny sprawiały wrażenie zadowolonych z remisu.
W kwestii ustawienia trener Marcin Sasal postanowił kontynuować myśl Roberta Podolińskiego i Dolcan wyszedł z trójką obrońców. Na środku tradycyjnie zagrał Piotr Klepczarek, na prawej stronie Mateusz Długołęcki, na lewej Mateusz Cichocki.
Pierwsze minuty były bardzo senne, upał najwyraźniej uśpił zawodników obu drużyn. Dopiero w 25. minucie miała miejsce pierwsza bramkowa okazja w tym meczu, eksarkowiec Cichocki przedarł się przez linię obrony Arki, jednak Łukasz Skowron zdążył wyjść z bramki i zablokował to uderzenie. Jeszcze bliżej bramki dla gospodarzy było dziesięć minut później, kiedy to Grzegorz Piesio po dośrodkowaniu Adriana Łuszkiewicza główkował w poprzeczkę. Piłka zatańczyła na linii bramkowej, jednak sędzia Zbigniew Dobrynin z Łodzi nie miał chwili zawahania – gola nie było.
Te dwie niewykorzystane sytuacje mogły zemścić się na gospodarzach na dwie minuty przed przerwą, kiedy to Arka wyszła z kontrą trzech na dwóch. Paweł Abbott przytomnie zagrał do Grzegorza Lecha, jednak jego strzał z kilku metrów fenomenalnie obronił Mateusz Kryczka. Tym samym bramkarz Dolcanu potwierdził, że Marcin Sasal podjął dobrą decyzję, desygnując go do gry w pierwszym składzie.
Tradycyjnie największe zagrożenie Dolcan stwarzał po akcjach Grzegorza Piesia, jednak piłkarz ten nie jest jeszcze w najwyższej formie, jego zagrania był mniej precyzyjne niż zwykle. Cokolwiek próbował jeszcze zdziałać Bartosz Wiśniewski, strzelił nawet gola, lecz sędzia słusznie odgwizdał spalonego. Arka Gdynia w drugiej połowie jakąkolwiek namiastkę zagrożenia stwarzała jedynie po stałych fragmentach gry.
Po meczu powiedzieli:
Dariusz Dźwigała (Arka Gdynia): Przede wszystkim trzeba szanować ten punkt zdobyty na tym boisku, ponieważ rzadko drużyny przeciwne zdobywają tutaj punkt. Myślę, że było to niezłe spotkanie, niezłe tempo, były fragmenty, gdzie my prowadziliśmy grę, były fragmenty, gdzie Dolcan prowadził grę. Czekaliśmy na swoje sytuacje, które były i w pierwszej połowie, i w drugiej. Nie ma tutaj czego żałować, wszyscy zawodnicy czekali z niepewnością, jak jesteśmy przygotowani. Uważam, że wszystko jest dobrze i teraz czas myśleć o następnej kolejce. (…) Brakowało tego łutu szczęścia, bo byliśmy blisko zdobycia bramki, a nawet jedną zdobyliśmy, prawdopodobnie ze spalonego. Ja tej sytuacji nie mogłem ocenić z perspektywy ławki rezerwowych, ale na pewno chętnie obejrzę powtórkę.
