W meczu 23. kolejki Energa Basket Ligi Trefl Sopot przegrał na wyjeździe z Enea Abramczyk Astorią Bydgoszcz 90:105. Żółto-czarni musieli uznać wyższość rywali, mimo iż wygrali zbiórkę aż 39:25.
Początek meczu w bydgoskiej hali Arena był wyrównany. Dla gości punktowali Yannick Franke, Brandon Young oraz Josh Sharma, zaś w drużynie miejscowych wyróżniał się Klavs Cavars – center gospodarzy po niespełna pięciu minutach spotkania miał na koncie osiem oczek i głównie dzięki jego grze Astoria prowadziła 10:6. Bydgoszczanie odskoczyli na +6 po trójce Rodericka Camphora, a z biegiem czasu nie tylko utrzymywali przewagę, ale także ją powiększali – po akcji „3+1” Wesleya Washpuna zrobiło się już 25:13. Na szczęście ostatnie dwie minuty inauguracyjnej kwarty należały do sopocian, dzięki czemu udało się odrobić połowę strat – po 10 minutach rywalizacji tablica wyników pokazywała 27:21.
Drugą kwartę zainaugurowały dwa trafienia Mateusza Zębskiego, ale pięć kolejnych punktowych akcji należało do Trefla, co pozwoliło nam odrobić wszystkie straty. Przy remisie 31:31 o pierwszą przerwę na żądanie w meczu poprosił trener Artur Gronek. Mimo, iż po powrocie na parkiet jego podopieczni przełamali impas, to po chwili odpowiedzieli Paweł Leończyk oraz Karol Gruszecki i to żółto-czarni byli na prowadzeniu! Od tego momentu oglądaliśmy zacięte zmagania. W ekipie Marcina Stefańskiego ciężar gry wziął na swoje barki Sharma, który zaskakiwał rywali – najpierw przeprowadził indywidualną akcję przez niemal całe boisko, a następnie celnie przymierzył zza łuku. Na niespełna minutę przed końcem połowy mieliśmy remis 44:44, jednak ostatnie sekundy należały do gospodarzy – celne wolne Washpuna i Camphora dały gospodarzom czteropunktową przewagę.
Po zmianie stron lepiej prezentowali się bydgoszczanie. Nie do zatrzymania był Cavars, a swoje oczka dołożyli też Jakub Nizioł oraz Camphor, co pozwoliło Astorii wyjść na +10 (57:47). W grze Trefla utrzymywał Josh, który zanotował sześć punktów z rzędu, ale wówczas gospodarze ponownie przyspieszyli i przy wyniku 64:55 o przerwę poprosił trener Stefański. Niestety, po powrocie na parkiet wciąż stroną dominującą byli miejscowi, którzy w ciągu kolejnych 120 sekund dorzucili jeszcze pięć punktów do swojej przewagi, a coach sopocian postanowił skorzystać z następnego czasu. To także niewiele zmieniło w obrazie gry. Na 10 minut przed końcem Astoria prowadziła 73:60.
Również w ostatnią część meczu lepiej weszli gospodarze. Po trójce Camphora mieli aż osiemnaście oczek więcej (80:62). Wówczas grę Trefla wzięli na swoje barki Leończyk i Young, których trafienia zmniejszyły straty do dziesięciu punktów, lecz Astoria nie pozwoliła na więcej i dzięki kolejnym skutecznym akcjom utrzymywała komfortowe prowadzenie. Sopocianie nie potrafili znaleźć recepty na atak bydgoszczan – aż czterech zawodników zespołu gospodarzy zgromadziło co najmniej 20 punktów, a cały dorobek Astorii przekroczył 100 oczek i to rywale mogli cieszyć się z jedenastego zwycięstwa w Energa Basket Lidze.
Najwięcej punktów dla sopockiego zespołu zdobył Yannick Franke (19), zaś double-double zapisał Josh Sharma (17 punktów i 10 zbiórek).
