Od dziecięcego Optymista do olimpijskiego 49er’aFX. Od zawodów na Zatoce Gdańskiej do igrzysk olimpijskich na Zatoce Sagami. Gdynianka Aleksandra Melzacka wyruszyła na Igrzyska Olimpijskie. W gdyńskiej marinie powodzenia życzyli jej Wojciech Szczurek, prezydent Gdyni, Joanna Zielińska, przewodnicząca Rady Miasta Gdyni i Rafał Klajnert, dyrektor Urzędu Miasta Gdyni.
Trudno sobie wyobrazić bardziej gdyńską dyscyplinę sportową niż żeglarstwo. Jachtklubów w mieście nie brakuje. Jednym z nich jest Yacht Klub Polski Gdynia z 95-letnimi tradycjami. To z nim związana jest od 14 lat Aleksandra Melzacka.
Zaczynała jak wszystkie dzieciaki od „mydelniczki”, czyli niespełna 2,5-metrowego Optymista z żagielkiem o powierzchni 3,25 m². Później był 29er – klasa przygotowawcza do 49er’ra, w której wraz z Mają Micińską zdobyła m.in. mistrzostwo świata juniorów. I wreszcie on – jacht typu skiff 49erFX – kobieca wersja 49er’a, na którym żeglowanie wymaga nie lada umiejętności technicznych. Smukły, lekki kadłub, wielkie jak namiot cyrkowy żagle, dwa trapezy i stałe wysięgniki do balastowania. Wszystko to sprawia, że jacht jest niestabilny, jak bosman po wyjściu z tawerny, a najmniejszy błąd kończy się wywrotką. Jednak trzy żagle: grot, fok i lekki genaker sprawiają, że łódź niemal frunie nad powierzchnią wody niczym latająca ryba.
49erFX ma ten sam kadłub co 49er o długości 4,9 m. Ma natomiast niższy maszt i mniejszą powierzchnię żagli (nie 59 m², a 45 m²), dostosowane do lżejszych, kobiecych załóg. Na igrzyskach w Rio de Janeiro w 2016 roku łódź zadebiutowała jako olimpijska klasa kobieca. Jednak wtedy nie udało się zakwalifikować polskiej załodze. Bardzo mało jest jeszcze w kraju kobiecych teamów obsługujących te łódki.
– Dosyć trudna jest ta łódka, zniechęca dużo osób, bo jest wywrotna i początki wiążą się z tym, że cały czas się wywraca i siedzi w wodzie, ale nie można się poddawać. To jest najważniejsze, żeby zauważać te małe kroki, które robimy, te umiejętności, które powoli zyskujemy. I w końcu jak już opanujesz tę łódkę, to możesz się skupić na strategii i taktyce. Generalnie ta łódka jest „przeżaglowana”, więc trzeba mieć też dosyć sporo siły, ale głównie liczy się technika, czyli przepływane godziny na wodzie – mówi Ola Melzacka.
Dlatego już sam start Polek w klasie 49erFX w Letnich Igrzyskach Olimpijskich w Tokio jest wydarzeniem. Nasze dziewczyny – Aleksandra Melzacka z YKP Gdynia i Kinga Łoboda z AZS-AWFiS Gdańsk rozpoczęły seniorską karierę dopiero w 2018 roku, a już na Mistrzostwach Świata 49er, 49erFX & Nacra17 u wybrzeży Auckland w grudniu 2019 roku zajęły 12 miejsce, co zapewniło im nominację olimpijską. Cztery miesiące później kolejny sukces – trzecie miejsce na silnie obsadzonych mistrzostwach Oceanii – bardzo ciężkich regatach, w czasie których zawodniczki musiały zmagać się z codziennymi wichrami, łódką i doborowymi przeciwniczkami. Ale gdy ogląda się je w akcji, ciężka walka na morzu wygląda jak dobra zabawa, w czasie której z gracją akrobatek żeglarki balansują i skaczą po pędzącej jak wodolot łodzi.
– Dużo trenowaliśmy, naprawdę ciężko pracowaliśmy, żeby zdobyć w Nowej Zelandii kwalifikacje olimpijskie. To spuściło z nas ciśnienie, aczkolwiek dalej bardzo ciężko pracowaliśmy, bo wiedzieliśmy że reszta nie śpi. Jak wiemy te Igrzyska zostały przełożone o rok, co w sumie było dla nas dobre, ponieważ mieliśmy więcej czasu na przygotowania. No i tak się znaleźliśmy z całym naszym teamem na Igrzyskach. Wymagało to na pewno dużo pracy, ale też było bardzo dużo miłych i fajnych momentów. To było nasze marzenie, moje i Kingi Łobody oraz trenera Tomka Stańczyka, więc naprawdę się cieszymy, że jedziemy tam i będziemy walczyć – mówi żeglarka.
Udział Melzackiej w igrzyskach to też powód do dumy dla Yacht Klubu Polski Gdynia. W jego 95-letniej historii jest ona pierwszą kobietą i piątym zawodnikiem na Igrzyskach Olimpijskich. Żeglarka traktuje go jak swój drugi dom, spędziła tu mnóstwo czasu i bardzo sobie ceni atmosferę oraz pracę trenerów.
– Kilka lat temu Ola powiedziała, że jej marzeniem jest wyjazd na Igrzyska Olimpijskie… Ciężka praca, konsekwencja, a przede wszystkim wola walki doprowadziły ją do tego, że spełnia marzenia. Gratulacje i powodzenia! – mówi Przemek Struś, trener Optymista YKP Gdynia.

W przeddzień wylotu do Tokio w gdyńskiej marinie zawodniczkę pożegnali przedstawiciele miasta: Wojciech Szczurek, prezydent Gdyni, Joanna Zielińska, przewodnicząca Rady Miasta Gdyni, Rafał Klajnert, dyrektor Urzędu Miasta Gdyni oraz Paweł Brutel, wicedyrektor Gdyńskiego Centrum Sportu.
– Pani Olu, wręczam bardzo symbolicznie flagę Gdyni, by zabrała ją Pani do Tokio. Miło mi też ogłosić, że w dniu dzisiejszym przyznałem Pani nagrodę w wysokości 10 tysięcy złotych, która mam nadzieję pomoże w dalszych planach sportowych. Trzymamy wszyscy kciuki. Nie chcę budować tremy, ale to jest wielka odpowiedzialność. Nie ma drugiej gdynianki czy gdynianina, którzy wyprawiają się na Igrzyska Olimpijskie. I to w tak pięknej dyscyplinie, tak bardzo gdyńskiej – mówił prezydent Szczurek.
Roześmiana, pełna bojowego zapału żeglarka nie kryła radości z udziału w igrzyskach i spotkania w marinie. A także zaraźliwego optymizmu, ale mądrze skierowanego na 100-procentowy wysiłek i walkę, a nie na konkretne miejsce na podium.
– Cieszę się, że miałam tutaj takie fajne pożegnanie od Gdyni. To daje naprawdę wsparcie i jeszcze większą motywację. Zaczęłam żeglować jak miałam 8 lat, teraz mam 23 lata, no to już prawie 15 lat żeglowania. Moim marzeniem od dziecka, ale to myślę, że każdego sportowca, jest medal olimpijski, aczkolwiek nie mówię, że zdobywa się go na pierwszych, drugich czy trzecich Igrzyskach Olimpijskich. Zdobywa się go na Igrzyskach, na których jest się do tego po prostu przygotowanym i reprezentuje się taki poziom, aby ten medal osiągnąć. Czy my reprezentujemy ten poziom? Nie jestem w stanie tego powiedzieć. My po prostu dajemy z siebie wszystko na treningach, na regatach i uważam, że mamy wysoki poziom i chcemy to pokazać i walczyć o każde miejsce w każdym wyścigu – mówi gdyńska olimpijka.
Spotkanie Aleksandry Melzackiej z prezydentem Wojciechem Szczurkiem w marinie nie było ich pierwszym spotkaniem. W 2015 roku żeglarka otrzymała od prezydenta statuetkę dla Nadziei Gdyńskiego Sportu, a w 2018 Sportowca Roku za sukcesy: I miejsce Mistrzostw Polski w Górkach Zachodnich, IV miejsce Mistrzostw Świata Juniorów w Marsylii, VIII miejsce Mistrzostw Europy (juniorzy i seniorzy) i VIII miejsce w regatach z cyklu Pucharu Europy w Medemblik.
Olimpijskie regaty klasy 49er i 49erFX odbędą się w dniach 27 lipca – 2 sierpnia 2021 r. na wodach Zatoki Sagami wokół Portu Jachtowego Enoshima w mieście Fujisawa. Transmisję będzie można oglądać na kanałach TVP i Eurosport w godzinach nocnych, gdyż różnica w czasie między Polską i Japonią wynosi 7 godzin.
