Rywalizację w warszawskiej hali OSiR efektownym wsadem otworzył Dominik Olejniczak. Odpowiedział na to Jamel Morris (zdjęcie górne) i mieliśmy remis 2:2. W kolejnych minutach zespoły grały „punkt za punkt” aż do szóstej minuty meczu. Wtedy swoje oczka z rzędu dołożyli byli zawodnicy Trefla, Jakub Karolak i Grzegorz Kulka, co dało prowadzenie Legii 13:7. Sopocianie nie dali się jednak rozpędzić „Zielonym Kanonierom”. Efektowne, a co ważne, skuteczne akcje Dariousa Motena pozwoliły zminimalizować straty do zaledwie dwóch oczek. (15:13) Ostatnia minuta pierwszej kwarty należała jednak do Legii, która dzięki punktom Justina Bibbinsa i Dariusza Wyki prowadziła po inauguracyjnej części meczu 20:13.

Drugą kwartę oba zespoły rozpoczęły od bardzo szczelnej gry w defensywie. Przez trzy i pół minuty Legia zdobyła dwa oczka, a Trefl jeden, a wszystkie te punkty zostały zdobyte z linii rzutów wolnych. Dopiero rzut zza linii 6.75 metra autorstwa Łukasza Kolendy przerwał passę bez punktów z gry. (22:17) Na niespełna pięć minut do syreny oznaczającej przerwę w meczu kolejny efektowny wsad wykonał Moten. Trefl miał szansę odrobić straty, ale ani Karol Gruszecki ani Michał Kolenda nie potrafili skutecznie rzucić za trzy. Legia umiała zaś odpowiedzieć tylko jednym celnym rzutem wolnym Bibbinsa. Kolejną okazją dla Trefla była odważna akcja Ł. Kolendy, który faulowany przez Earla Watsona miał jeszcze do dyspozycji rzut osobisty, ale przy wyniku 24:23 przestrzelił. Dopiero na dwie minuty przed końcem drugiej kwarty stołeczni inauguracyjne punkty z gry w tej części meczu. Żółto-czarni jednak nie odpuszczali. Drugi raz za trzy trafił młodszy Kolenda! Rozgrywający sopocian po tym rzucie miał już na swoim koncie 10 oczek. Był to ostatni punktowy akcent pierwszej połowy – na przerwę drużyny schodziły przy prowadzeniu Legii 28:26.

Pierwsze punkty po zmianie stron zdobył zawodnik Legii, Grzegorz Kamiński, ale kolejne sekundy należały do Trefla. Dwa razy po faulu Watsona rzuty wolne wykorzystał Olejniczak, a następnie odważnym wejściem pod kosz do remisu 30:30 doprowadził Gruszecki. Żółto-czarni dobrze grali w obronie i dzięki temu w krótkim odstępie czasu mieli dwie okazje na punkty z kontry – wykorzystali je Ł. Kolenda i Martynas Paliukenas, co dało sopocianom cztery oczka zapasu! (30:34) Nie czekał trener Legii Wojciech Kamiński, który poprosił o przerwę na żądanie. Nie zdało się to na wiele. Kolejną trójkę dołożył rozgrywający przyjezdnych, a dodatkowo pierwsze takie trafienie zanotował też Moten. Przewaga Trefla jednak znacznie nie rosła, gdyż całkowicie na swoje braki grę Legii wziął Bibbins. Amerykanin trafiał za trzy, a dodatkowo potrafił nawet zabrać piłkę pod koszem… Olejniczakowi. Zmobilizowało to stołecznych na ostatnie dwie i pół minuty trzeciej kwarty, gdy Trefl prowadził 48:40. Dwie skuteczne akcje przeprowadził Kulka, z linii rzutów wolnych punkt zdobył Bibbins, a kiedy na 40 sekund przed końcem kwarty za trzy trafił Przemysław Kuźkow, tablica wyników pokazywała rezultat 48:48. O czas poprosił trener Stefański, lecz po powrocie na parkiet niecelnie rzucił TJ Haws. Legia wykorzystała to bez skrupułów, a konkretnie jej lider, Justin Bibbins. Jego trójka na dziesięć minut przed końcem dała stołecznym prowadzenie 51:48.

Decydująca część gry zaczęła się od punktów Olejniczaka i Pawła Leończyka. (51:52) Za trzy odpowiedział Kulka, ale po chwili tym samym popisał się… kapitan gości. Legioniści nie odpuszczali. Kolejne oczko Kulki i trafienie Morrisa dało im trzy punkty zapasu na siedem minut przed końcem spotkania. Następne 120 sekund było bardzo nerwowe, a żadna z drużyn nie potrafiła umieścić piłki w koszu. Zrobił to dopiero Mariusz Konopatzki, który wykorzystał przyznane dwa rzuty wolne. Niestety, chwilę później pierwszą, ale jakże ważną skuteczną akcję trzypunktową przeprowadził Morris i warszawianie prowadzili już 63:55. Fragment gry bez zdobyczy punktowej dla Trefla przełamał Paliukenas, ale gospodarze mieli w swoich szeregach Bibbinsa, który wykorzystał kolejne rzuty wolne (67:59). Żółto-czarni jeszcze raz spróbowali przechylić szalę zwycięstwa na swoją korzyść – za trzy trafili Ł. Kolenda i Paliukenas, ale w tzw. międzyczasie wsadem popisał się Watson i Legia miała cztery oczka zapasu. Akcją decydującą o wyniku spotkania były dwie niecelne próby za trzy Ł. Kolendy, nota bene, najlepszego koszykarza Trefla w tym elemencie w rywalizacji z Legią. Warszawianie zdobywali kolejne punkty z linii rzutów wolnych i nawet udane akcje Motena nie odebrały drużynie trenera Kamińskiego zwycięstwa. Dla stołecznych czwartkowy triumf był ósmym zwycięstwem we własnej hali.

Najwięcej punktów dla żółto-czarnych, 18, zdobył Łukasz Kolenda. Po 14 oczek mieli w swoim dorobku Martynas Paliukenas i Darious Moten. W zespole zwycięskim najlepiej punktował Justin Bibbins ( punkty), a Dariusz Wyka zanotował 11 zbiórek.
