Morskie Regaty Konsulów to nowa inicjatywa Pomorskiego Związku Żeglarskiego i Stowarzyszenie Konsulów Honorowych w Polsce. Jej cel był prosty – pokazanie konsulom honorowym piękna żeglarstwa.
– Morskie Regaty Konsulów są świetnym pomysłem, bo to nie tylko integracja, ale też możliwość pokazania naszych krajów – mówi Magdalena Pramfelt, konsul honorowa Szwecji. – Pogoda jest świetna, wszystko nam służy, a fantastyczną opiekę sprawuje Pomorski Związek Żeglarski. Jesteśmy zachwyceni i cieszymy się z udziału – niezależnie, kto wygra!
Na zaproszenie PoZŻ odpowiedziało sześciu konsulów – Jan Zacharewicz, konsul honorowy Bangladeszu, Janusz Jarosiński, konsul honorowy Belgii, Józef Poltrok, konsul honorowy Litwy, Tomasz Kopoczyński, konsul honorowy Luksemburga, Sławomir Kalicki, konsul honorowy Malty i właśnie Magdalena Pramfelt.
– Po tych regatach spodziewam się przygody, przyjemności i miłego spędzenia czasu – tłumaczył Tomasz Kopoczyński przed startem. – To też dobry sposób promocji kraju. Luksemburg nie leży wprawdzie nad morzem, ale żywo współpracuje z firmami w zakresie logistyki. Ten kraj patrzy na morze i podobnie jak jego konsulowie ma dobre relacje z portami w Gdyni i Gdańsku.
Uczestnicy regat ścigali się na jachtach Balt 23 Olimpia o długości 6,76 metra, które dostarczył partner imprezy – Narodowe Centrum Żeglarstwa AWFiS Gdańsk. Każdy z konsulów honorowych pływał z doświadczonym sternikiem. Bazą regat była gdyńska Marina Yacht Park.
Morskie Regaty Konsulów uroczyście otworzył Bogusław Witkowski, prezes PoZŻ, któremu towarzyszyli m.in. Krzysztof Czopek z Urzędu Marszałkowskiego Województwa Pomorskiego, prezes Polskiego Związku Żeglarskiego Tomasz Chamera i Roman Paszke, jeden z najlepszych polskich żeglarzy regatowych.
– Mam nadzieję, że wszystkie załogi będą wspominały ten dzień zarówno za sprawą sportowej adrenaliny i fajnej przygody pod żaglami, jak i możliwości zobaczenia naszego Trójmiasta od strony wody – mówił prezes Witkowski. – Pierwsze, historyczne Morskie Regaty Konsulów uważam za otwarte.
Sześć załóg popłynęło w jednym wyścigu, którego trasa rozpoczynała się i kończyła na wysokości wyjścia z gdyńskiego portu, a do opłynięcia była boja na wysokości redłowskiego klifu. Jej pokonanie zajęło żeglarzom dwie godziny.
– Regaty spełniły moje wszelkie oczekiwania – przyznaje Józef Poltrok. – Jestem zbudowany pomysłem, atmosferą i samymi regatami. Myślę, że za parę lat będzie to kluczowa impreza służąca integracji konsulów. Za rok będę na pewno i postaram się, żeby ambasador też przyjechał.
Jako pierwszy na metę przypłynął Sławomir Kalicki, konsul honorowy Malty.
– Czuję się wspaniale z tym zwycięstwem – przyznaje konsul Kalicki. – Trochę wypadało wygrać, bo jestem absolwentem Wyższej Szkoły Morskiej i reprezentuję najbardziej morski kraj Unii Europejskiej, który jednocześnie jest największą banderą w UE. – Pogoda była pełna wyzwań – raz wiało, raz nie i trzeba było szukać wiatru.
Pozostałe załogi zostały sklasyfikowane ex equo na drugim miejscu. Sprawiedliwie, bo regaty były zacięte i wszystkie teamy dopływały do mety w podobnym czasie.
– Bardzo się cieszymy, że taka inicjatywa powstała i jestem przekonany, że za rok liczba konsulów, którzy wezmą udział, będzie większa – mówi Jan Zacharewicz. – Została kapitalnie zorganizowana.
Organizatorem Morskich Regat Konsulów był Pomorski Związek Żeglarski i Stowarzyszenie Konsulów Honorowych w Polsce, a głównym partnerem Akademia Wychowania Fizycznego i Sportu im. Jędrzeja Śniadeckiego w Gdańsku. Partnerami byli: Narodowe Centrum Żeglarstwa AWFiS w Gdańsku, Urząd Marszałkowski Województwa Pomorskiego, miasto Gdynia, firma VBW Engineering, firma Łączpol i Fundacja Aktywnie i Zdrowo. Partnerami medialnymi wydarzenia byli: portal Żeglarski.info, miesięcznik „Żagle”, magazyn „W Ślizgu” oraz Radio Gdańsk.
