Przed tym meczem większości kibiców Arki mogło się wydawać, że zapas pecha ich drużyny został już wyczerpany. Derby przegrane po słupkach, poprzeczkach i VARze, a niespełna tydzień później remis wyszarpany przez Pogoń w samej końcówce. Starcie z Miedzią miało odwrócić feralną serię, i chociaż te słowa są powtarzane od co najmniej paru tygodni, to teraz zwyczajnie wypadało wygrać. Zmianie uległa wedle zapowiedzi murawa na stadionie Arki, ale co ważniejsze żółto-niebiescy dokonali zmiany na najważniejszym stanowisku w sztabie szkoleniowym. Do ekipy dołączył Jacek Zieliński i w swoim debiucie w Gdyni nie zaskoczył gigantyczną rewolucją. „Stara” Arka rozegrała z Miedzią przyzwoity mecz. Szkoda tylko, że gospodarze nawiązali do tragicznych końcówek, które już od dawna są ich bolączką.
Na pierwszą bramkę trzeba było czekać do 56 minuty meczu. Po nieporadnym wybiciu obrońcy Miedzi piłka trafiła pod nogi Aleksandara Kolewa, który został sfaulowany w polu karnym podczas składania się do strzału. Sędzia wskazał na wapno, a jedenastkę na bramkę zamienił Michał Janota. Żółto-niebiescy chcieli podwyższyć prowadzenie, grali otwarcie. Niestety przypłacili za to wysoką cenę. Wydawało się, że w końcu Arka przerwie fatalną serię, wskoczy na 11 miejsce w tabeli i utrzymanie będzie prostsze. Wtedy nadszedł cios obuchem w głowę, a konkretniej centrostrzał Joana Romana.
W jednej chwili Arkowcy stracili komplet punktów i korzystne miejsce w tabeli dające im cztery mecze u siebie w fazie finałowej Ekstraklasy zamiast trzech. Obecna sytuacja prezentuje się następująco: Arka spadła na 15 miejsce w tabeli, które powoduje spadek do 1 Ligi. Z drugiej strony strata do 14 Wisły Płock wynosi zaledwie punkt, a 12 w tabeli Górnik Zabrze i 13 Śląsk Wrocław znajdują się w zasięgu dwóch oczek. Do końca sezonu pozostało 7 spotkań, z czego pierwsze zostanie rozegrane w Zabrzu z Górnikiem. Pewne jest to, że do utrzymania się w lidze będzie potrzebne potężne zaangażowanie i przełamanie.
