W ataku bardzo dobrze spisywali się Damian Schulz i Daniel McDonnell. W dalszej części seta GKS starał się utrzymywać dwupunktową przewagę 19:17 i 20:18. Jednak końcówka była bardzo zacięta. Drużyny grały punkt za punkt. Dwadzieścia pięć punktów nie wystarczyło, by wygrać. Po nerwowej grze na przewagi dwa kolejne punkty na wagę zwycięstwa zdobył Schulz – najpierw skutecznie zaatakował, a po chwili posłał na stronę rywali asa serwisowego 29:31.
W kolejnym secie zawodnicy Trefla Gdańsk potwierdzili swoją wysoką formę sportową, którą prezentowali już kilka dni temu we Wrocławiu, 8:10 i 10:14. Podopieczni Piotra Gruszki niestety takiej straty nie zdołali już odrobić. Nie do zatrzymania był atakujący zespołu z Trójmiasta. Seta asem serwisowym zakończył McDonnell 25:19.
Partia trzecia, to podobnie jak w drugiej nieustanna dominacja przyjezdnych. 0:3, 7:10. Co prawda gospodarze walczyli do końca i udało się im zniwelować stratę do dwóch oczek 19:21. Jednak ostatnie słowo należało do zdobywców Pucharu Polski. W ostatniej akcji Rafał Sobański posłał zagrywkę w aut i… klątwa został zdjęta. Tym razem 3:0 wygrał Trefl. MVP spotkania został fantastycznie spisujący się w ostatnim okresie Damian Schulz.
