Szanowni Państwo,
W pierwszej kolejności pragniemy podziękować Państwu za tak liczne przybycie na wczorajszy mecz. Wiara oraz siła, którą daliście Państwo zawodnikom były ogromne i wierzymy, że nasz stadion może tak wyglądać podczas każdych zawodów ligowych rozgrywanych w Gdańsku. Niestety, przeciwnik okazał się lepszy. Z tego miejsca pragniemy pogratulować drużynie toruńskiej zwycięstwa i utrzymania w PGE Ekstralidze.
Na tym zdaniu powinniśmy zakończyć, jednakże w minionym tygodniu miały miejsce wydarzenia, które nie powinny się zdarzać w sporcie i o których zmuszeni jesteśmy Państwa poinformować. W środę jednemu z zawodników zespołu Zdunek Wybrzeże Gdańsk została przedstawiona propozycja gratyfikacji finansowej oraz kontraktu na sezon 2018 w zamian za słabą postawę podczas meczu barażowego. Zawodnik propozycję odrzucił oraz natychmiast poinformował o zaistniałej sytuacji zarząd GKŻ Wybrzeże. Dzień później propozycja została ponowiona, a zawodnikowi zaproponowano wyższą gratyfikację niż w środę. Oferta ponownie została odrzucona. Na prośbę zawodnika Zarząd klubu wstrzymał się z wszelkimi działaniami w tej sprawie do wczoraj. Naszą intencją było zapewnienie zawodnikom maksymalnego komfortu psychicznego do niedzielnych zawodów. W niedzielę rano podczas wspólnego śniadania pozostali zawodnicy Zdunek Wybrzeże zostali poinformowani o złożonej propozycji i wszyscy jednoznacznie zaprzeczyli, by przyjęli jakiekolwiek oferty tego typu.
Podsumowując pragniemy podkreślić, iż nie mamy żadnych podstaw by twierdzić, że którykolwiek z zawodników Zdunek Wybrzeże Gdańsk zaprezentował w niedzielnych zawodach niesportową postawę, a zespół z Torunia zwyciężył w barażowej rywalizacji w sposób nieuczciwy. Co więcej wierzymy, że wszystko odbyło się w sportowej walce. Jednakże posiadamy niezaprzeczalne, twarde dowody, że propozycja korupcyjna została złożona co najmniej jednemu z naszych zawodników i w naszej opinii jest to sytuacja absolutnie niedopuszczalna i patologiczna. Mamy też podstawy sądzić, że ta sytuacja negatywnie wpłynęła na atmosferę w naszym zespole oraz przygotowanie psychiczne zawodników do meczu. Sprawa wraz z materiałem dowodowym została przekazana policji oraz zostanie dziś przekazana do władz Polskiego Związku Motorowego i PGE Ekstraligi. Wierzymy, że przedstawiciele związku dołożą wszelkich starań, by odpowiednio ukarać sprawców, a sport żużlowy pozostanie wolny od korupcji i niesportowych postaw.
