Skuteczna gra Alexa Welsha i Tomasza Wojdyły spowodowała jednak, że w końcówce gospodarze uzyskali przewagę i wygrywali po 10 minutach gry 27:20.
Na początku drugiej kwarty po trafieniu za trzy punkty Grzegorza Małeckiego Siarka wygrywała już 10 punktami. Przyjezdni jednak po skutecznych akcjach najbardziej doświadczonych zawodników, czyli Piotra Szczotki i Krzysztofa Szubargi zniwelowali tę różnicę do 4 punktów. Siarka odskoczyła ponownie, dwukrotnie jej przewaga sięgnęła tuzina punktów. W ostatniej akcji przed przerwą zza łuku trafił jednak niezawodny Szubarga, zmniejszając starty Asseco do 9 oczek.
Po powrocie z szatni beach boys z animuszem przystąpili do odrabiania dystansu. Po kontrze zakończonej efektownym wsadem przez Przemysława Żołnierewicza było już tylko 50:46, a gdy na 3,5 minuty przed syreną trafił Wojciech Czerlonko żółto-niebiescy objęli jednopunktowe prowadzenie. Siarka nie odpuszczała i obejrzeliśmy zacięty bój, w którym to jedni, to drudzy zmieniali się na prowadzeniu, a sześciokrotnie tablica wyników wskazywała remis. Ostatecznie dzięki rzutowi wolnemu Krzysztofa Jakóbczyka z wolnego za faul techniczny oba zespoły miały na koncie po 72 punkty. Zapowiadały się więc nie lada emocje w ostatnich dziesięciu (a może nie tylko) minutach.
I tak też było. Ostatnia kwarta tego meczu to istna wojna nerwów. Na początku mnóstwo strat i niecelnych rzutów. W trzeciej minucie tej części gry za dwa punkty trafił Grzeliński i miejscowi prowadzili 77:76. W połowie kwarty ich przewaga wzrosła nawet do pięciu oczek, ale koszykarze Asseco nie opuścili rąk i doprowadzili do prawdziwego thrillera, odwracając losy meczu. W kluczowych momentach odpowiedzialność na swoje barki brał Szubarga. To właśnie głównie dzięki jego trafieniom i rzutom wolnym Żołnierewicza gdynianie zwyciężyli 100:96.
Krzysztof Szubarga zanotował w tym meczu aż 33 punkty i pięć asyst. 22 punkty i cztery asysty dołożył Przemysław Żołnierewicz, który wykazał się stuprocentową skutecznością rzutów za 2 punkty 8/8. Podobną skuteczność zanotowali także Piotr Szczotka (8/8) i Mikołaj Witliński (6/6). Dzięki temu w tym elemencie gry gdynianie uzyskali aż 85,7 %, trafiając 30 na 35 prób.
W ekipie gospodarzy wyróżniał się Tomasz Wojdyła z 24 punktami i siedmioma zbiórkami. Jan Grzeliński miał 20 punktów i 9 asyst, a Alex Welsh 15 punktów i 9 zbiórek.
