Parę dni temu Atom Trefl Sopot rozstał się z trenerem Piotrem Matelą. Zarząd powierzył kierowanie zespołem dotychczasowemu asystentowi Piotrowi Olenderkowi. Nowy trener – nowa miotła. Kibiców i rywalki z pewnością również zaskoczyły zmiany w składzie spockiego zespołu. W pierwszej szóstce nie pojawiła się na parkiecie ani kapitan Magdalena Damaske, ani Justyna Łukasik, które dotychczas były najbardziej „produktywnymi” siatkarkami tej drużyny. Zamiast nich zobaczyliśmy na środku Alicję Wójcik, a na skrzydle – Monikę Fedusio.
Rozpoczęły od mocnego uderzenia Mineralne, które po asie serwisowym Mariny Cvetanović prowadziły już 3:0. Na prowadzenie Atomówki wyprowadziły zawodniczki, które dotychczas rzadko pokazywały się na parkiecie: Fedusio i Alicja Wójcik (5:3). Od dwóch błędów rozpoczęła Karolina Goliat, ale po chwili zrehabilitowała się dwoma atakami punktowymi. W pole serwisowe weszła Natalia Gajewska i… po serii jej zagrywek przewaga Atomówek znacząco wzrosła (15:8). Po ataku Beaty Mielczarek, ona sama zanotowała dwa asy serwisowe, co zwiększyło przewagę sopocianek do 8 oczek. Po drugiej stronie siatki kilka dobrych zagrań zaliczyła Magdalena Wawrzyniak, ale niemal natychmiast odpowiadała jej Mielczarek. As serwisowy Gajewskiej dał atomówkom piłkę setową, którą za drugim podejściem skończyła Goliat (25:19).
Podrażniona Muszynianka rozpoczęła drugą partię z ogromnym animuszem i wkrótce po atakach Wawrzyniak, Mai Savić i po dwóch asach serwisowych tej ostatniej tablica wyników pokazywała 1:7. Sygnał do odrabiania strat dała efektownym blokiem Małgorzata Skorupa. Dołączyły do niej wkrótce Gajewska, Mielczarek i Fedusio i zmniejszyły dystans do prowadzących do 2 punktów. Zaciąg bałkański nie pozwolił atomówkom na więcej i przyjezdne utrzymywały swoją przewagę, która po ataku Justyny Sosnowskiej i błędzie Alicji Wójcik wzrosła już do pięciu oczek (15:20). Wówczas znów w polu serwisowym po udanym ataku Goliat znalazła się Gajewska. Po jej kąśliwych zagrywkach dwukrotnie pomyliła się Savić, raz – Wawrzyniak i sopocianki wyszły na prowadzenie (21:20). Końcówka była bardzo dramatyczna. Atomówki odskakiwały, mineralne goniły, ale ostatnie piłki należały do Fedusio, która zakończyła seta dwoma skutecznymi atakami (26:24).
Dziesięciominutowa przerwa nieco zdekoncentrowała obie ekipy. Na początku seta trzeciego zawodniczki po obu stronach siatki popełniły szereg błędów, które sprawiły, że pierwszy zdobyty punkt po ataku zanotowała dopiero Sosnowska, co pozwoliło Muszyniance objąć prowadzenie (4:5). To przyjezdne szybciej się otrząsnęły i wkrótce po akcjach Cvetanovic uzyskały kilkupunktową przewagę, co zmusiło trenera Olenderka do wzięcia czasu. Poskutkowało to na tyle, że dwie piłki wygrała Mielczarek, ale Cvetanovic nie odpuszczała i natychmiast odrobiła przewagę swojego zespołu. Sopocianki ambitnie goniły wynik, dwukrotnie nawet remisując (12:12 i 15:15). Wówczas jednak dwukrotnie zatrzymane zostały blokiem, a dwie kolejne akcje skończyła Natasa Cikiriz (15:19). Jednak i mineralne zaczęły się mylić. Po dwóch zepsutych zagrywkach zespołu z Muszyny, skutecznym ataku Fedusio i dwukrotnym zatrzymaniu ataków rywalek przez sopocki blok na tablicy wyników pojawił się znów remis (22:22), a chwilę później libero Dorota Medyńska popełnia błąd rozegrania i Atom Trefl obejmuje prowadzenie i jest o dwie piłki od meczu. W końcówce zabójczo skutecznie gra jednak blok Polskiego Cukru i zatrzymany atak Fedusio przedłuża grę o kolejną partię (25:27).
Skuteczną grę blokiem kontynuowały mineralne także od początku czwartej odsłony. Sopocianki jednak szybko znalazły na to sposób i po atakach Goliat i Fedusio prowadziły już 7:3. Przyjezdne zaczęły mnożyć własne błędy, dlatego trener Ryszard Litwin zdecydował się przerwać grę. Nie zmieniło to wiele, bowiem błędy zarówno w ataku, jak i w polu zagrywki sprawiły, że miejscowe po ataku Skorupy z przechodzącej piłki odjechały na sześć punktów (15:9). Kolejna przerwa wzięta przez trenera Litwina zmobilizowała Cikiriz, która dała sygnał do odrabiania strat. Fatalne błędy zaczęły też popełniać w tym czasie atomówki ich przewaga stopniała do jednego oczka. Na boisku pojawiły się J. Łukasik i Damaske. Kapitan Atomu Trefla popełnia jednak błąd w ataku, po chwili powtarza to Alicja Wójcik i mamy remis (20:20). Od tego momentu sopocianki jakby stanęły. Nie były w stanie skończyć akcji, dwukrotnie nadziały na blok rywalek, punkty zdobywały w wyniku ich błędów. Dopiero broniąc piłki setowej skutecznie zaatakowała Mielczarek, ale w odpowiedzi atak Sosnowskiej, a następnie blok Aleksandry Pasznik, doprowadziły do tie breaka.
Uciekająca szansa na zwycięstwo podziałała na sopocianki jak zimny prysznic i rozpoczęły piąty akt tego meczu od mocnego uderzenia. Najpierw atak Goliat, po chwili as Alicji Wójcik i było już 2:0. Muszynianki nie chciały dać za wygraną i gra toczyła się przez chwilę punt za punkt. Atomówki jednak wciąż były jedno-dwa oczka z przodu. Tuż przed zmianą stron świetnie dwukrotnie zagrała Goliat, co zdeprymowało rywalki na tyle, że w następnej akcji błąd w rozegraniu popełniła Pasznik i drugą część decydującej partii atomówki rozpoczynały od prowadzenia 8:4. Zaraz po zmianie znów skutecznie blokowała Goliat i przewaga jej zespołu rosła. Po serii błędów z obu stron dystans się nie zmienił, ale zespół z Sopotu miał już tylko cztery piłki do końca (11:5). Zdenerwowane przyjezdne oddały im trzy spośród tych czterech brakujących punktów, jeden zdobyła Goliat, pieczętując tym samym tytuł MVP meczu. Ostatnią piłkę w aut posłała Cvetanović.
Mimo zwycięstwa atomówki mają czego żałować, były bowiem bardzo bliskie sięgnięcia po pełną pulę, co zdecydowanie poprawiłoby ich sytuację w tabeli. Wspólnie stworzyli oni na trybunach znakomitą atmosferę i ustanowili nieosiągalny dla innych wynik – 9 137 widzów na meczu siatkówki żeńskiej w Polsce.
– Jesteśmy wdzięczni każdemu kibicowi, który w poniedziałek pojawił się na trybunach. Na szczególne podziękowania zasługują oczywiście organizacje odpowiedzialne za to, że na mecz mogło dotrzeć aż tak wielu młodych Kaszubów – Stowarzyszenie Trefl Pomorze i Zrzeszenie Kaszubsko-Pomorskie. Dziękujemy także dyrektorom i nauczycielom każdej ze 137 szkół, których uczniowie dziś zagościli na trybunach. Wielu z nich w poniedziałkowe popołudnie po raz pierwszy pojawiło się na meczu siatkówki. Jesteśmy przekonani, że wyniosą z ERGO ARENY znakomite wspomnienia i jeszcze nie raz zagoszczą na naszym spotkaniu. Mamy jednak nadzieję, że z jednej strony zarazimy uczniów sportową pasją, a z drugiej pokażemy całej siatkarskiej publiczności w Polsce, jak piękną częścią Pomorza są Kaszuby. Na to wyjątkowe poniedziałkowe wydarzenie przygotowaliśmy wiele zabaw i animacji po kaszubsku i o Kaszubach – powiedział Marek Wierzbicki, prezes sopockiego klubu.
Atom Trefl pobił rekord wszech czasów ORLEN Ligi, ustanowiony przed rokiem w ERGO ARENIE podczas finałowego starcia Atomówek z Chemikiem Police. Wtedy sopociankom kibicowało 8 558 widzów, w dużym stopniu również pochodzących z kaszubskich szkół. Tamten rezultat z kolei strącił z pierwszego miejsca siedmiotysięczną publiczność, która w marcu 2012 roku śledziła mecz Atomu Trefla z… Muszynianką.
