Na najdłuższej, liczącej 63 km trasie najszybszy podobnie jak rok temu okazał się Bartosz Banach. Wśród kobiet zwyciężyła Małgorzata Białecka.
Po raz pierwszy w historii rowerowe zawody trwały aż dwa dni. W sobotę podziwiać mogliśmy rywalizację dzieci i młodzieży. Wśród maluchów najszybszy okazał się 6-letni Borys Świetlicki z Belta Team Gdańsk. Najmłodsi z uczestnicy mieli ledwie 2 lata!
Tego dnia rywalizowali również młodzicy, starszacy i juniorzy, którzy mieli do pokonania odpowiednio 1,5, 8 i 12 km. Sobota była też doskonałym dniem do zabawy, gdyż na mecie na dzieci czekały dmuchane zabawki. Przygotowano także specjalne miasteczko, w którym można było tego dnia przystąpić do egzaminu i otrzymać kartę rowerową.
Zawody rozpoczynały się u stóp Stadionu Miejskiego, a trasa wyścigów tradycyjnie prowadziła leśnymi drogami Trójmiejskiego Parku Krajobrazowego oraz w okolicy Gdyńskiego Forum Sportu. W niedzielę w szranki stanęło 488 osób, które mimo jesiennego słońca musiały zmierzyć się z niską temperaturą.
– Cieszymy się, że organizowany przez nas rowerowy maraton z roku na rok cieszy się coraz większym zainteresowaniem – mówi dyrektor Gdyńskiego Centrum Sportu Marek Łucyk. Przygotowaliśmy ciekawą i wymagającą trasę, która pozwala poczuć się jak w górach, a do tego świetnie wykorzystuje walory gdyńskich lasów.
Było wiele stromych zjazdów, na których kolarze bez problemów mogli osiągnąć prędkość przekraczającą 50 km/h. Nie zabrakło także wymagających pełnego poświęcenia stromych podjazdów. Różnica wysokości wyniosła 123 metry. To mniej więcej tyle, ile wyniosłoby ustawienie na sobie 4 dziesięciopiętrowych wieżowców. Całkowite wzniesienie wyniosło 435 metrów.
Podczas tegorocznej edycji zawodów uczestnicy mieli do pokonania trasę liczącą 21 km. W zależności od decyzji mogli pokonać ją jeden, dwa lub trzy razy, dzięki czemu każdy mógł sprawdzić się na dystansie odpowiednim dla swoich sił. Najszybsi na nakrótszym dystansie byli Michał Bogdziewicz z czasem 49 min i 25 s, a wśród kobiet Zofia Rzeszutek z czasem 1 h 4 min i 33 s. Trasę 42 km najsprawniej pokonali Robert Banach (1 h 41 min 4 s) i Agnieszka Patoka (2 h 10 min 1 s). Prawdziwymi góralami znad morza okazali się Bartosz Banach i Małgorzata Białecka. Pokonanie 63 km zajęło im kolejno 2 h 20 min 31 s oraz 3 h 23 min i 6 s.
Dla wielu zawodników uczestnictwo w MTB C.Hartwig Gdynia Maratonie stanowi zwieńczenie rowerowych zmagań w Trójmieście. Można powoli myśleć o nowym sezonie i zapisać datę przyszłorocznej edycji. W 2017 roku gdyński maraton przyspiesza, odbędzie się bowiem już 9 i 10 września!
