W związku z tym prowadzący po dwóch dniach regat Artiom Basalkin i Ilya Haneu zostali oficjalnymi zwycięzcami szóstej edycji 49er Grand Prix Gdynia. Na drugiej pozycji uplasowali się zwycięzcy wyścigu nocnego – Przemysław Filipowicz i Grzegorz Goździk. Trzecie miejsce dla załogi POL 52 Jacek Nowak i Tymoteusz Bendyk.
W szóstej edycji regat na wodach Zatoki Gdańskiej wystartowało 9 załóg. Gdynia zafundowała wszystkim zawodnikom niezłą huśtawkę pogodową. W piątek warunki wiatrowe były dobre, lecz zabrakło słońca, w sobotę wiatr był już mniejszy, jednak udało się rozegrać wszystkie z zaplanowanych wyścigów, a w niedzielę powietrze praktycznie stało.
Po pierwszym dniu klasyfikacja była bardzo wyrównana. Trzy załogi, Tymoteusz Bendyk i Jacek Nowak, Przemek Filipowicz i Konrad Lipski oraz Artiom Basalkin i Ilya Haneu, uzyskały taką samą liczbę punktów. Rywalizacja była bardzo zacięta. Jednak liderem tego dnia została załoga POL 52 Tymoteusz Bendyk i Jacek Nowak, ponieważ o zwycięstwie zdecydowała wygrana ostatniego wyścigu. Ta trójka w zasadzie z wyścigu na wyścig tylko zamieniała się miejscami na podium.
Drugiego dnia, w sobotę, wiatr był już słabszy. Zawodnicy musieli koncentrować się na perfekcyjnym prowadzeniu łódki, taktyce i przewidywaniu zmian wiatru. Tego dnia od samego początku najlepiej prezentowała się rosyjska załoga – Artem Basalkin i Ilya Haneu. Doszło jednak do przetasowania. Słabszą formę zaprezentowali Jacek Nowak i Tymoteusz Bendyk, tylko jeden z biegów ukończyli w czołówce i ostatecznie uplasował się na trzecim stopniu podium. Z kolei załoga Przemka Filipowicza, w której Konrada Lipskiego zastąpił Grzegorz Goździk, nie zawiodła, dwukrotnie przecięła linię mety jako pierwsza. Tuż za nimi, na czwartym miejscu zameldował się Piotr Szlachcic i Łukasz Włoch.
W niedzielę zarówno zawodnicy 49er jak i Polskiej Ekstraklasy Żeglarskiej przez cały dzień byli w pełnej dyspozycji i czekali na wiatr. Z powodu niewystarczających warunków pogodowych niestety nie udało się przeprowadzić wyścigów, dlatego też za ostateczne uznano wyniki z dnia poprzedniego.
– Jest to bardzo widowiskowa impreza, ponieważ 49er’y to łódki bardzo szybkie i wymagają sporych umiejętności od zawodników. Poza tym Gdynia jest o tyle atrakcyjna, że wyścigi można z bulwaru oraz plaży, a w sezonie letnim jest to dodatkowa atrakcja zarówno dla mieszkańców, jak i turystów. Takie imprezy naprawdę warto wspierać – podkreśla Paweł Brutel, radny miasta Gdyni.
Dekoracja zwycięzców odbyła się na Placu Grunwaldzkim w muszli koncertowej, a nagrody wręczała przewodnicząca Rady Miasta Gdyni Joanna Zielińska i… ubiegłoroczny triumfator imprezy Łukasz Przybytek oraz przedstawiciele sponsorów.
Podsumowania dokonała dyrektor regat Magdalena Czajkowska, która podziękowała zawodnikom, kibicom i organizatorom, szczególnie w osobach Rafała Sawickiego, Klaudii Krause oraz Pawła Górskiego za włożoną pracę, a miastu Gdyni za życzliwość i pomoc. Zamykając tegoroczną edycję regat zaprosiła jednocześnie wszystkich za rok.
