Piątego czerwca na Stadionie Miejskim odbył się ostatni mecz Arki Gdynia w rozgrywkach I ligi sezonu 2015/16, a zarazem ostatni mecz gdyńskiej drużyny na tym poziomie ligowym na co najmniej rok. Eksperymentów w zespole Grzegorza Nicińskiego w finale tego sezonu nie było. Trener Arki posłał w bój najsilniejszą armię – zawodników, którzy w największej mierze w tak spektakularnym stylu wywalczyli awans do ekstraklasy. Niespodzianki? Jeśli już to tylko jedna, a więc Yannick Sambea na ławce. Ale nikogo też nie powinien przecież dziwić widok Michała Nalepy w wyjściowym składzie.
Przed meczem orkiestra odgrywająca Rotę – hymn Arki, dzieci z flagami, cheerleaderki. Jednym słowem: święto. Ale Arkowcom atmosfera rozluźnienia, świętowania i radości chyba udzieliła się za bardzo, bo już w dwunastej sekundzie (!!!) dostali gonga. Najszybszy gol tego sezonu na zapleczu ekstraklasy? Zdecydowanie. Gdynianie zostawili więc po sobie i niechlubny ślad w I lidze. Co więcej? W pierwszej połowie już kompletnie nic. Żółto-niebiescy grali z zaplątanymi nogami, a goście choć agresywnie, również bez wymiernych efektów. Boisko zamieniło się w ring, bo czysto fizyczna walka miała non stop miejsce. Po przerwie doszło nawet do sporego zamieszania, w ruch dodatkowo poszły pięści, ale ostatecznie zawodnicy obu zespołów wyjaśnili sobie nieporozumienie. Obyło się bez ofiar. Arce tego dnia wyraźnie nie szło. Większość akcji tworzona była przez długie podania, co rzadko przynosiło zamierzone rezultaty. Wprowadzenie Rafała Siemaszki wprawdzie ożywiło ofensywę, ale po stronie zdobyczy bramkowej niezmiennie było zero, aż do momentu rozpoczęcia akcji właśnie przez Siemaszkę. Gdynianie braki znowu nadrobili zaangażowaniem i walką, a rezerwowi po raz kolejny dodali drużynie jakości – akcję bramkową rozpoczął Siemaszko, a gola zdobył Rashid Yussuff. Stadion oszalał, euforia nie miała granic, wyglądało to tak, jakby był to gol na miarę awansu do fazy grupowej Ligi Mistrzów. Wynik i gra od początku nie napawały optymizmem. Oczywiście, awans wywalczony był już znacznie wcześniej, ale w grę wchodziły dwie inne kwestie: przekroczenie granicy 70 punktów na koniec sezonu, co dawało jedynie zwycięstwo z Chrobrym oraz przedłużenie do 20 liczby meczów ligowych bez porażki. Ostatniej bowiem Arka doznała aż 23 października minionego roku, co dało w sumie 226 dni. Kwestii numer jeden nie udało się spełnić, za to drugą – ważniejszą – dzięki remisowi 1:1 żółto-niebiescy mogą odhaczyć. Teraz pozostaje tylko czekać, jak długo uda się utrzymać tę serię na najwyższym poziomie ligowym.
Na środku boiska stanęło specjalne podium, na które po kolei zapraszani byli poszczególni zawodnicy, reprezentujący Arkę w przeciągu całego sezonu, a także trenerzy i sztab szkoleniowy. Wszyscy otrzymali pamiątkowe medale z rąk prezydenta miasta Wojciecha Szczurka oraz Radosława Michalskiego, prezesa Pomorskiego OZPN. Drużynie wręczono także dwa piękne puchary za wygranie rywalizacji w I lidze.
A kilkadziesiąt po zakończeniu meczu spod Urzędu Miasta ruszył autokar z piłkarzami, który w asyście kibiców i głośnych śpiewów, spowity dymem płonących rac, ulicą Świętojańską dotarł do Skweru Kościuszki. To tam, przy fontannie, rozpoczęło się prawdziwe święto wieńczące wywalczony na boisku awans po pięciu latach przerwy.
Oby gdynianie dobrze zaprezentowali się w Ekstraklasie.
