Smutny koniec pięknej serii

Arka zagrała w tym spotkaniu bez kontuzjowanego Dawida Banaszka, reżysera gry w ataku i egzekutora rzutów karnych. O ile w drugiej funkcji znakomicie zastąpił go Szymon Sirocki, o tyle jego brak jako organizatora gry dawał się boleśnie odczuć. Arka grała chaotycznie, akcje często nie były do końca przemyślane. Żółto-niebieskim udało się jednak w pierwszej połowie wywalczyć dwa rzuty karne, które właśnie Sirocki wykorzystał i po jego dwóch trafieniach goście prowadzili. Gra była wyrównana, ale w doliczonym czasie pierwszej połowy w ogromnym zamieszaniu w okolicach pola punktowego Arki przyłożenie dla Lechii zdobył Grzegorz Buczek. Nie udało się jednak lechistom podwyższyć i to Buldogi schodziły na przerwę prowadząc 6:5.

Druga połowa zaczęła się dla gdynian równie dobrze, jak pierwsza, gdyż rzut karny ponownie wykorzystał Sirocki. Odpowiedź gdańszczan była jednak skuteczna i skończyła się przyłożeniem Piotra Piszczka. W tym momencie biało-zieloni odwrócili wynik meczu i wyszli na jednopunktowe prowadzenie. Arka próbowała przebić się przez skomasowaną obronę gospodarzy, ale grała bez pomysłu i to nie przynosiło rezultatu. Na kwadrans przed końcem regulaminowego czasu gry rzut karny celnie wykonał Patryk Narwojsz i Arka przegrywała już czterema oczkami. Gdynianie cały czas szukali sposobu na obronę gdańszczan, ale ich próby przypominały bicie głową w mur. Defensywa Lechii stanowiła w tym spotkaniu niewzruszony monolit. W końcówce mistrzowie Polski niemal nieustannie okupowali okolice pola punktowego miejscowych, ale wynik już się nie zmienił.

Arka ostatni raz przegrała 11 października ub.r. w meczu 7 kolejki sezonu zasadniczego w Sopocie z tamtejszym Ogniwem, a więc także w meczu derbowym. Była to porażka dwoma punktami w doliczonym czasie gry. O tamtej pory Buldogi wygrywały wszystkie mecze, w tym większość z bonusem. No cóż, każda seria ma niestety swój koniec

Lechia po tym zwycięstwie awansowała na pozycję lidera rozgrywek Ekstraligi, a Arka jest trzecia.

W przyszły weekend reprezentacja Polski rozegra mecz ze Szwecją w ramach Pucharu Narodów Europy. W najbliższych dniach zatem odbędzie się zgrupowanie, w którym weźmie udział m.in. po kilku zawodników obu drużyn. Powrót do rozgrywek Ekstraligi za 2 tygodnie.
