Stelmet bez większych problemów pokonał Asseco 80:59 w drugim spotkaniu ćwierćfinału Tauron Basket Ligi. Zielonogórzanie prowadzą już 2:0 w serii do trzech zwycięstw.

Po kilku wyrównanych minutach przewagę zaczęli zdobywać gospodarze – po trójce Przemysława Zamojskiego Stemet prowadził 14:7. Asseco potrafiło jeszcze zbliżyć się na jeden punkt, ale akcje Quintona Hosleya i Aarona Cela pozwoliły zielonogórzanom wygrywać po pierwszej kwarcie 24:18. W drugiej części meczu drużyna trenera Saso Filipovskiego kontrolowała sytuację. Bardzo aktywny w ataku był A.J. Walton – po jego rzutach wolnych gdynianie przegrywali tylko pięcioma punktami. Wtedy jednak cztery akcje z rzędu wykończył Russell Robinson, a jego zespół prowadził nawet 41:27.

W trzeciej kwarcie głównie dzięki Waltonowi i Piotrowi Szczotce Asseco zmniejszyło straty do ośmiu punktów. Sprawy w swoje ręce ponowie wzięli jednak Zamojski i Robinson, którzy szybko powiększyli przewagę Stelmetu. Po jednej z akcji tego pierwszego zielonogórzanie prowadzili już 61:41. Ostatnia część spotkania już niczego nie zmieniła. Gospodarze mieli inicjatywę i nie pozwalali rywalom na kolejny zryw. Ostatecznie wygrali 80:59 i prowadzą już 2-0 w serii do trzech zwycięstw.

Najlepszymi strzelcami gospodarzy byli Russell Robinson i Przemysław Zamojski, którzy rzucili odpowiednio 19 i 18 punktów. W ekipie z Gdyni wyróżniał się A.J. Walton z 13 punktami i sześcioma asystami.

David Dedek, trener Asseco Gdynia: – Dziękuję kibicom, którzy znowu przyjechali nas wspierać w tym meczu. Gratuluję przeciwnikom zwycięstwa. O meczu nie ma co dużo mówić. [Stelmet miał] 12 zbiórek w ataku, to zdecydowanie za dużo. My popełniliśmy 20 strat i to są dwie rzeczy, które zdecydowały o końcowym wyniku. Na pewno poprawiliśmy niektóre elementy w obronie, niektóre rozwiązania taktyczne, z których Stelmet korzystał w pierwszym meczu zneutralizowaliśmy. Ale z drugiej strony dzisiaj zagraliśmy na trochę niższym poziomie energetycznym. Trzeba wiedzieć, że w naszym zespole jest mnóstwo młodych zawodników i ich ciała nie są jeszcze ciałami wybitnych zawodowców, jakich ma Stelmet. Tutaj była ich przewaga – na polu energetycznym. Mam nadzieję, że przez kolejne dwa dni zrobimy taką regenerację, że będziemy w stanie zagrać w domu na wyższym poziomie. 

Przemysław Frasunkiewicz, Asseco: – Jeżeli gramy na wyjeździe z tak utytułowanym zespołem jak Stelmet to – popełniając 20 strat – nie ma mowy o nawiązaniu walki. Pewne rzeczy poprawiliśmy w tym meczu w stosunku do pierwszego ale popełnialiśmy straty i daliśmy sobie zebrać 12 piłek. Na dobrą sprawę Stelmet nie zrobił nic wielkiego. Jako zespół, który jest faworytem wygrał dwa mecze u siebie. Szkoda, że dzisiaj w takim stylu z naszej strony. Trzeci mecz jest u nas, w Gdyni, Na pewno zagramy trochę lepiej.

Saso Filipovski, trener Stelmetu: – Gratulacje dla moich zawodników. Jestem zadowolony z tego jak zagraliśmy cztery kwarty, wygraliśmy je wszystkie. Zagraliśmy z dużą energią i walecznością, dobrze w ataku. Mieliśmy 19 asyst, piłka szła, szukaliśmy się w ataku i dobrze zagraliśmy w obronie. W naszych głowach jest 0-0, takie będzie podejście kiedy rozpoczniemy następny mecz. Straciliśmy dużo sił więc teraz najważniejsza jest regeneracja i koncentracja. Będziemy jeszcze raz oglądać naszą grę w ataku i obronie. Przygotujemy się jeszcze lepiej taktycznie. To co będzie można zmienić, zmienimy. Dziękuję kibicom za dobre kibicowanie. Mam nadzieję, że nasi kibice będą z nami w czasie następnych meczów. Oni są szóstym zawodnikiem i normalne jest to, że będziemy się cieszyć z każdego fana, który będzie z nami w czasie następnych spotkań. 

Russell Robinson, Stelmet: – Dobrze dzieliliśmy się dzisiaj piłką i mieliśmy sporo chłopaków, którym „wchodziło”. Dobre były też nasze przejścia z obrony do ataku. Taką taktykę musimy podtrzymywać: zespołowa gra w obronie i w przejściu pod drugi kosz. Trzeba grać nasz basket. Tak jak mówi coach: w naszych głowach wynik serii to 0-0. W Gdyni będzie ciężka walka, to jest naprawdę dobra drużyna. Jesteśmy gotowi na to, żeby pojechać tam i dać z siebie wszystko.
