Zespół gospodyń rozpoczął od dwóch mocnych ciosów Emilii Galińskiej. Dość szybko po rzutach Magdy Pawłowskiej,Moniki Kobylińskiej i Patrycji Kulwińskiej uzyskał kilkubramkową przewagę. Dobrze grała gdyńska obrona nie dopuszczając przyjezdnych do rzutów. Niezłą formę w bramce zaprezentowała też Weronika Kordowiecka. Pod koniec pierwszego kwadransa wystarczyły jednak trzy minuty dekoncentracji, by Andela Ivanovic, Stefka Agova, a zwłaszcza Monika Kopertowska zmniejszyły dystans do 4 trafień (11:7).
Podrażnione vistalki wzięły się do roboty i po 5 minutach po trafieniu Iwony Niedźwiedź, która rzadko włączała się do akcji ofensywnych ustępując pola Kindze Gutkowskiej, tablica pokazywała 18:7 dla miejscowych. Od tej pory oba zespoły grały bramka za bramkę, a wynik do przerwy ustaliła Pawłowska.
Po przerwie Vistal nie był już tak skuteczny. Gdynianki zdobyły zaledwie 12 bramek (autorką 5 z nich była Aleksandra Zych), tracąc 15. A trzeba powiedzieć, że większym stratom zapobiegła dobra gra w bramce Małgorzaty Gapskiej. Ryba obroniła kilka groźnych strzałów rywalek, łącznie z rzutem karnym w ostatnich sekundach meczu. Po stronie pozytywów można odnotować jeszcze debiut przed własną publicznością w tym sezonie Soni Kłusewicz, okraszony jej dwoma bramkami.
Jako, że na kwadrans przed końcową syreną wynik opiewał na 30:22, publiczność na czele z klubem kibica zaczęła domagać się przekroczenia 40 bramek. Niestety, końcówka należała do przyjezdnych, a gdynianki wykazywały strzelecką niemoc. Karnego zepsuła niezawodna dotąd Kobylińska, pudłowały również m.in. Katarzyna Janiszewska, Aleksandra Dorsz i Zych. Ostatnią bramkę dla gospodyń zdobyła ta pierwsza w 55 minucie gry. Ten stan rzeczy spowodował, że końcowa przewaga zawodniczek Pawła Tetelewskiego skurczyła się do 6 oczek.
Vistal pokazał swoją siłę przed czekającym obie drużyny dwumeczem w Pucharze Polski, ale… tylko w pierwszej połowie. W drugiej uśpiony wysokim prowadzeniem pozwolił piotrkowiankom na zbyt wiele. Cieszy duża liczba bramek rzuconych, ale ostrzeżeniem powinna być zbyt duża ilość bramek straconych. Pamiętamy ubiegłoroczny horror, jaki zafundowały nam, kibicom piłkarki Vistalu na tym samym szczeblu rozgrywek Pucharu Polski, kiedy losy awansu ważyły się w Koszalinie do ostatniej sekundy meczu rewanżowego. Mamy nadzieję, że tym razem gdyńskie szczypiornistki nam tego oszczędzą i już w najbliższy poniedziałek, ponownie w Gdynia Arena, uzyskają przewagę, która pozwoli bezstresowo rozegrać rewanż w Piotrkowie Trybunalskim. Wcześniej w sobotę 14 lutego w Olkuszu kolejny mecz ligowy.
